Connor's Sleigh bed

I started this project in 1998, and it was my longest running creation.  I got divorced and moved to Utah in the middle of it.  I ended up keeping it at Chris's house in Atlanta and working on it when I was visiting my kids once a month.  I finished it in 2003.

The headboard and footboard panels came from a single piece of 6/4 mahogany.  The legs from an 8/4 piece.  Bed bolts hold the frame together.  The crest rails make the project.  They are curved pieces cut from 8/4 stock and shaped with hand tools.  They're wonderful to walk up to and put your hands on.
Here's the footboard panels, cut from a single 6/4" mahogany board This is a side view of the headboard, showing the leg.. Here's Connor and I about to start on the footboard crest rail.

This is the footboard crest rail being roughed out.
CD and Connor have participated all along.

Here's the assembled headboard
